Navel Oranges

  • Navel orange segments are healthy and fun kid foods for snacks and lunches, that pack and travel well. Peel the orange, then gently separate the fruit along the natural divisions.
  • Dip navel orange segments into low - or nonfat chocolate yogurt.
Valencia Oranges
  • Fresh Valencia juice may be squeezed and refrigerated overnight. If tightly covered and immediately chilled, no loss of flavour or Vitamin C will occur
  • Toss slices or Valencia oranges segments into salads, and salsa.
Lemons
  • If you are reducing your sodium or fat intake, try squeezing a wedge of fresh lemon on salads, steamed vegetables, soups and stews. You'll never miss the salt or butter!
  • Add a slice or two of fresh lemon to a glass of water. It has visual appeal and makes the water taste and smell better.
  • Add the grated zest of fresh lemon to recipes for added intensity in cakes and cookies.
Grapefruit
  • A grapefruit half sprinkled with brown sugar and run under the broiler until bubbly makes a great breakfast treat.
  • Grapefruit segments partner well with avocado over your favorite greens for a classic salad.
Moro (Blood) Orange
  • Enjoy Moros out of hand, use them for an interesting juice or showcase their jewel-like colour in recipes.
  • The intense flavour of Moro oranges is wonderful with roasted or grilled meat and poultry.
  • Melt a couple of tablespoons of orange marmalade in the microwave and tumble in one peeled, diced Moro orange for a quick and exotic sauce.
Tangerines
  • When using whole tangerine segments in salads, desserts and other dishes, remove any seeds by snipping the center of the segment and gently squeezing.
  • Add tangerine segments to coleslaw or tuna salad for an unexpected, delicious and colourful treat!
